Snow Removal

3 Essential Tools for Commercial Snow Removal

Snow removal can be quite a chore for Westfield business owners. You need to make sure customers can safely park, walk to, and enter your place of business. Miller Lawn Maintenance has been removing snow from commercial properties since 2015. We know a thing or two about safely and effectively plowing snow. Always be prepared for that next Indiana snow or ice storm with these three essential commercial snow removal tools.

1. Snow Blowers

Snow blowers are a very common tool used in both residential and commercial snow removal. These machines work great for small businesses as they can easily and quickly remove large amounts of snow from sidewalks, wide pathways, and entrances. There is a wide range of snow blowers available on the market today, such as gas-powered, battery-operated, or electric machines, and single-stage, two-stage, or three-stage blowers.

2. Snow Loaders

Snow loaders are a step above snow blowers. They work by pushing and moving snow into specific areas. There are different variations of snow loaders available. Skid-steer loaders and mini-track loaders are ideal for tight spaces like sidewalks and narrow paths, while all-wheel steer loaders are great for removing large quantities of snow. Backhoe loaders can dig up snow on one end and load it on the other, and wheel loaders are larger and have headlights, making them perfect for moving large amounts of snow in low visibility.

3. Salt Spreaders

Once the snow is removed, preventing ice from forming on paved surfaces is your next task. We are no strangers to just how dangerous ice can be here in Indiana. Salt spreaders offer a quick and easy way to distribute the salt evenly all over parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, and entrances. Many of these machines can spread different types of salt as well. Magnesium chloride ice melt can be applied directly to concrete and is safe for family pets. Calcium chloride or rock salt is cheaper than magnesium chloride but it can damage nearby grass, plants, and bushes.
